My Pinball Arcade Reviews Part 4

OK true believers. It's time for part 4 of my Pinball Arcade reviews. BTW just a side note. I counted the number of tables on my Kindle version and there are 52. #Whoopsie. My bad folks.

High Speed

This Williams classic from 1986 will forever hold a spot in my heart. It's the one game that kick started my obsession with the silver ball those many moons ago. High Speed also did a cameo in the movie Opportunity Knocks starring Dana Carvey. In this game you're the driver and your goal is to run red lights and outrun the fuzz. I give this pinball classic 5 stars and a vroom vroom. Pull over buddy.

Junk Yard

If you read part two then you know I referenced this table from 1998 briefly. Apparently Crazy Bob retired from barroom brawling and opened up his own junk yard. Now you're stuck there and must assemble parts to escape while battling Spike the dog. There's also a time travel mode where you get to revisit such modes as The Mamushka from The Addams Family and the video mode from Attack From Mars. All in all a solid game. 4 1/2 stars go to this crazy junk yard jamboree.

Lights, Camera, Action

This movie themed table from 1989 puts players in the role of director. Players must film an action movie involving a shootout and foot chase among other scenes. Pretty decent game. 4 stars and an Oscar go to this Hollywood gem. Roll em.

Medieval Madness

This 1997 pinball classic is a humorous take on medieval times with such characters as Lord Howard Hurts and The Duke Of Bourbon. There are damsels to rescue, castles to destroy and battles to be won. There's even an ancestor of that French guy from Attack From Mars. Or at least they sound alike. Medieval Madness delivers the goods dragon style. 5 stars go to this clash of castles.

Monster Bash

This monster smash hit from 1998 brings up the question what if 6 of Universal Studios most iconic monster formed a rock band? Dracula, Frankenstein and his bride, even The Creature From The Black Lagoon gets in on this act. All in all a spooky good time had by all. 5 stars go to this monsterously fun table.

No Good Gofers

This golf inspired table from 1997 features 2 snarky gophers intent on ruining your day at the golf course. Features include a scale model golf cart and 2 pop up gopher heads justy ripe for smacking with your ball. This ain't no Caddyshack wannabe. No siree Bob. This is awesome. 5 stars and a 12 handicap go to this par shot. Don't hit me. Hit Spud.

Phantom Of The Opera

This Data East Classic from 1990 is based on the famous Gaston LeRoux novel from 1911. Imagine that. A pinball machine based on a book. Cool huh? Anyhoo, this game has some awesome audio effects and music. There's even a chance to see the phantom unmasked on the backglass. This is the most recent addition and the first Data East table to be added to Pinball Arcade. I give this one 4 1/2 stars.

Pin-Bot

This classic from 1986 is the first of three tables based around Pin Bot. He is a character in Taxi but he's kinda in the background there. Here you must travel the solar system before reaching the sun. I love the skill shot on this game. I also love the visor that raises to allow ball lock for Multiball. This table was translated nicely by Rare studios for the Nintendo Entertainment System. I had a copy of that. Killer game. Definitely worth 5 stars and a supernova.

Ripley's Believe It Or Not

This unbelievable classic from 2004 allows players to travel the globe with Robert Ripley, visiting all seven continents on the way to discovering the lost continent of Atlantis. This is one complex machine. It's also fun to play. 5 stars to this believably fun time.

Scared Stiff

The second table featuring Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark, this table from 1996 is like watching old horror movies with Elvira. You've got a mystery crate full of God only knows what. Hit it enough times and you get 2 ball Multiball. It has a Stiff-O-Meter, a spider on the backglass which doubles as a mystery bonus and more. 5 stars go to this screamfest. Unpleasant Dreams
